IF NOT NOW, THEN WHEN? questioning the what next

If not now, then when?  I ask myself this question all the time.   It’s what motivates me to do things I would never have done.

IF TRUTH BE TOLD

It’s true, I enjoy learning, because I’m fascinated about how things work, and enjoy learning a new art form.

It’s also true. that I haven’t separated what’s a hobby and what’s work, because I do find myself incorporating all my learnings into various avenues so that I can share the knowledge, and apply what I’ve learned.

But Truth be told it’s time to stop acting like a kid in a candy store, and start looking at a healthy way of focusing on my core value. With reference to the value I bring into my life, and the value I give out.

AN OATH TO MYSELF

I made an oath to myself after matriculating, that I would learn something new every year. I’ve lived up to that oath. But one thing I missed out on, is that we also learn through application, and learning doesn’t require one to attend accredited or qualified institutions. While I knew that I’d gained a massive amount of experience, because I’ve always been a sponge, wanting to understand how everything works. However… society made me feel like I wasn’t qualified enough, good enough, or worthy enough because I didn’t have the papers to prove I can do the job just as well as, or better than someone else.

QUESTIONING “THE WHAT NEXT”

After hearing a friend say…. “I’m not like you, I want to focus on one thing, and not many things.” and when I hear my coach say “You need to stop”

I sit back and ask myself the following questions :

What’s the purpose
How does it fit into my current career
What do I ultimately want to achieve
What’s my ideal job description
What’s my greatest superpower
What’s the big picture
What do I want my life to look like in a year from now
What’s going well
What’s not going well
What is required of me to live an enriched and beneficial life for myself and the people who surround me…

TAKE HOME

Learning is inevitable, embrace it, but never lose touch with living in the moment.  When it comes to what you’re good at, find the common thread in everything you do. When you’ve found it, you’ll know.

Listen to what people ask of you, like about you, what is it they think you are best at bringing to the table, these are clear hints in what your customer/audience/followers/friends/family…. e.t.c want more of.

BE PATIENT, DON’T EXPECT THINGS TO HAPPEN OVERNIGHT.  ONCE YOU’VE HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD, GO OUT AND DO WHAT YOU DO BEST :-)
